Caritas Archdiocese Vrhbosna, Merhamet, Association Puž and Caritas Bosnia and Herzegovina are making a huge effort in providing better life for migrants in Tuzla. Common project financed by CRS gathered several partners with the same aim, to reduce suffering of migrants in a transit or longer staying in Canton Tuzla. Caritas Diocese Banja, Caritas Archdiocese Vrhbosna and Caritas Bosnia and Herzegovina opened laundry service for migrants in Tuzla. Common project of several partners, with financial support of Catholic Relief Service has aim to reduce the suffering of migrants in transfer through Tuzla, or staying in Tuzla for a while. The laundry service is opened on January 28th 2020. This is the second laundry service for migrants opened by Caritas. The service is placed in Merhemet public kitchen and has capacity of 50 persons per day. This service is also providing washing and drying of laundry from the house run by association Puž for about 20 people.
In the service Caritas employs two persons to work in it, therefore the project is not taking care of migrants' health preventing skin disease and ensuring better hygiene, but also supporting employment of women who are not employed. With the same project, our partners increased capacity of laundry service in Bihać, in camp Bira with one new set of machines. The set contain one washing and one drying machine. With this new set, this laundry service will increase for 20% the number of services.
