Ivana Cerkez, 24 years old, last year completed the study of Pedagogy and thus acquired the title of Master of Pedagogy at the University of Mostar. Ivana is an active young woman that volunteers in the Center for children, youth, and family SPES in Mostar. This is the same Center where Caritas opened YourJob job counselling center and where Ivana had a chance to learn about all the opportunities the program offered to youth who strive to enter the labour market.
Within the YourJob program, she joined counselling service where, together with Guidance Counsellor, she found an interesting internship program in the Public Institution “Kindergarten” Mostar. Ivana started her internship in March 2020 in public Kindergarten as a Pedagogue intern with great support from her mentor. This is a professional upgrade opportunity for her, while she can work and learn specific details on the role of a Pedagogue in a Kindergarten and adopt pedagogical standards and procedures at the same time.
“I wanted to work in the profession I was educated for, advance in my profession, and gain work experience and expand my knowledge through practical work. Therefore, I tried to find my first job in this sector. In the Kindergarten, I aim to gain working experience, improve my performance and hopefully develop my professional approach for the future.” – said Ivana.
Ivana is very grateful to the YourJob program. She is happy that this kind of program exists and offers many opportunities and services to young people. In the frame of the YourJob she benefited from the counselling centre, internship program, online training as well as financial support for the first working experience.
Nowadays, when the situation in the country is not in favor of perspective young professionals, and when many families are leaving the country, Ivana is fulfilling her dreams. Being an active young woman, she dedicated her time to work with children as a Pedagogue intern as well as a voluntary activist. Ivana lives her dreams with a smile on her face, in her local community, in her city, Mostar, where she is planning to stay and benefit from all possibilities that are given in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Ivana gives her message to all young people: “Invest in your knowledge and expertise, make your experience “build up” your CV because knowledge and quality are always noticed. The more you know, the more worth you have!”
