Coronavirus pandemic affected all planned activities as well as soft skills training in the YourJob program in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Due to security measures no in live trainings were allowed to be organized, despite a great need of young people to quality meets their time. YourJob team managed to find a temporary solution for the situation to meet the needs for young people confronting it to the safety measures and planned several online sessions of various soft skills training led by Guidance Counsellors.
The main challenges of organizing online trainings were: many of the presentations and online meetings were ongoing at the same time, use of free, user-friendly, and young people an approachable platform, how to animate young people from the project area to participate. On the other side, the young people from other regions of BIH who had no similar opportunity in their local community showed great interest in the proposed online trainings, which was an added value to the project. With the five online trainings 51 youngsters were able to participate and learn something new. Five counsellors gained experience in leading online training and managing the online platform as well.
Training How to write a CV was organized on April 24th, 2020 on Skype. Guidance counsellors from Banja Luka Dajana Umicevic and Slavica Jukic led the one-hour training with the participation of 21 young people and joined by the members of the project team as well as Guidance counsellors from Mostar and Čapljina. They learned what are the main CV elements, how to write, and what to write in the CV, how a CV should be shaped, and formatted. The feedback from the participants was very positive. All participants at the end of the workshop received recorded session in a link accompanied by the presentation, as well as a possibility to work on their CV together with guidance counsellors.
Training Time management was organized on May 5th, 2020 on Skype platform. The Guidance counsellors from Mostar Anita Kozul and Zeljka Prce conducted one-hour interactive training together with 17 young people and five team members. Young people understood what is important in time management, why it is crucial to create a to-do list, and to set up goals. A list of tips and tricks was provided to the participants. All participants received the presentation as well a video link to the recorded session.
Training topic Successful job interview was organized on May 28th, 2020 on Skype platform conducted by guidance counsellors from Banja Luka Dajana Umicevic and Slavica Jukic. Young people understood how the job interview looks like, what are the main elements of the interview, how is their role important during the interview, which questions are legitimate to ask the interviewer. This training was helpful for the participants while young people stated they had a fear of the interview and now with newly acquired knowledge they increased their self-esteem. Five participants joined this training and they received the presentation and a video link of the recorded training.
Training on Carrier planning was held on June 4th, 2020 on Skype platform by the guidance counsellor form Capljina Zrinka Karlovic with the moderation of Guidance counsellor form Mostar Anita Kozul. Three participants were very interested to learn about the steps of the carrier planning process, tips, and tricks on the personal development phase as well as on an individual approach to the planning. They were introduced with the questionnaire on Carrier planning as well they received a recorded video of the training. The training was evaluated as a successful one and very useful.
Training How to overcome stress situations was conducted on July 10th, 2020 by the guidance counsellors from Mostar Anita Kozul and Zeljka Prce for five young people. This one-hour interactive workshop helped participants understand what are stress triggers, how to recognize stress symptoms, what steps to take for managing the stress. The trainers were presenting a questionnaire of self-assessment of the stress, and share it with participants to use it in the future, to be able to overcome any stressful situation. Participants of the training enjoyed a workshop dynamic and methodology, they learned on how to prevent stress situations.
The YourJob team continues to monitor the development of the pandemic and depending on how the situation develops, additional contingency measures and alternative activities including training and education will be introduced.
