The fifth meeting of the implementators and partners of the project "Basic Education for Roma Adults" – BERA, funded by the European Union, within the framework of the Erasmus + program, was held in Viseu, Portugal from 5th to 7th September 2017.
The fifth partner’s meeting was an opportunity for project partners to meet once again and to continue to work on of the Manual for the Implementation of Basic Education for Roma and the Manual for the Implementation of Basic Education in the Family Environment.
At the beginning of the meeting, the bishop of Viseu, Ilídio Pinto Leandro and President of Caritas diocesana Viseu Carlos Manuel Monteiro Marques welcomed BERA partners. Afterwards, partners started working on materials that are an integral part of the manual that will contain instructions for staff working on non-formal adult education of Roma, and will be divided into 3 parts: reading and writing, mathematical and digital competences.
The guests of this meeting were experts from the field of adult education (teachers, professors, social workers, etc.) to whom BERA partners held brief presentations of the project and manuals. Upon completion, the experts gave their opinions and useful information that the partners will use in further work and completion of the manual.
Additionally, the evaluation team from Austria were introduced to BERA partners and presented planned testing of parts of the manual relating to the informal reading and writing program, as well as mathematical skills.
