Caritas Europa humanitarian action group have met in Sarajevo in period October 18th to October 20th. On the meeting participated representatives from Caritas Armenia (Armen Martirosyan), Austria (Sabine Wartha), Belgium (Sebastian Dechamps), Bosnia and Herzegovina (Dijana Muzička), Czech Republic (Jiri Škvor), Ireland (Sarah Murphy), Luxemburg (Mihael Feit), Romania (Thomas Hackl) , Switzerland (Mandy Zeckra), Spain (Graciela Rico), Ukraine (Hryhoriy Seleshchuk) Caritas Europa from Brussel (Silvia Sinibaldi and Pilar Cuesta) and Caritas Internacionalis (Jose Magda Souse) from Rome.
Before official meeting task force groups for capacity building, advocacy and ECHO had their own meetings to develop the implementation of strategy. Each representative of task force presented strategy and next steps of task force to whole group, and each member could comment and give suggestion to a strategy and steps to be taken, in order better implementation of strategy.
During the meeting Gaetan Devisme representative from Caritas Belgium, settled in Sarajevo presented the monitoring and evaluation system made with Caritas Macedonia, Serbia and Greece, through the M&E of Caritas Internacionalis. The situation in Ukraine is still the most interesting theme. The members had opportunity to hear the newest information from Hryhoriy Seleshchuk.
All group members were introduced with latest training within regional group SEECEG and upcoming group EECEG on Coordination mechanism between Caritas Europa and Caritas Internacionalis. Within the update, Thomas Hackl and Silvia Sinibaldi conducted the exercise with group members on this subject. From Caritas Internacionalis update gave Jose Magda Souse about the new baobab platform and CI coordination.
Second day, Caritas Bosnia and Herzegovina organized visit for all members in Caritas Sarajevo. The participants visited elderly home under construction near Sarajevo. Director Mirko Šimić explained the need of this facility and difficulties Caritas is faced with. This was an opportunity also to lobby for additional support in building the facility faster. After the visit in Lug, the group went in premises of Caritas Sarajevo. Director Tomo Knežević welcomed all members and expressed his contentment to host such a group in Sarajevo. Zlatko Malić had short presentation about the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the whole complexity of the country, and projects and programmes Caritas in Bosnia and Herzegovina is implementing. This presentation showed, many participants not being in Bosnia and Herzegovina from the War period, how Caritas in B&H grew with time.
After official meeting finished Silvia Sinibaldi from Caritas Europa and Dijana Muzička from Caritas Bosnia and Herzegovina visited Caritas Banja Luka. During the visit Silvia spoke with director Miljenko Aničić about the important theme which has been occurred Diocese since summer. Drought has destroyed many agriculture crops and led families living from it in need for food and support to recover from a disaster. The story about the lost and worries representative heard from two families in the office, and on the field during the visit village near Banja Luka.
