The floods in May 2014 caused a large scale of damage in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The projects for reconstruction and rehabilitation are finished in the end of 2015, and in next year Caritas intensively works on disaster risk reduction and prevention from disasters through education, workshops with active participation of local communities which are the main actors inside their own communities. In project Caritas included 30 communities from three Diocese. Before the project even started Diocesan Caritas in Mostar, Banja Luka and Sarajevo made mapping of risks and hazards in communities as an introduction for this project and activities inside this project. Within the project Caritas aims to strengthen local capacities to respond and be prepared to natural disasters. This means with Caritas facilitation local communities will transfer their weakness into strengths and their fears into advantages. Through the year Caritas will work with local communities, schools, facilities and kindergartens. With the project local communities will be stronger to overcome effects from disaster. With simple actions and practical educations experts will show them how to prevent or reduce the risks from disasters.
