Craft occupations in Bosnia and Herzegovina are reviving and gaining in importance, young people are increasingly opting for these occupations, either through basic education or retraining.
In this regard, and within the YourJob program five young men from Mostar completed basic and advanced training for the profession of a carpenter - locksmith organized in Mostar and I cooperation with the Campanile ltd. company. The training lasted three months per cycle, during which the young participants had the opportunity to learn from experienced instructors and were introduced to basic carpentry skills including: Learn to use hand tools, power tools, and other specialty equipment used by carpenters, gain familiarity working with carpentry building materials as well as hands-on training in performing basic works and simple projects. Participants were also given the opportunity to work on the production of kitchen furniture as well as a kitchen decoration.
At the end of the training, each participant, with the expert supervision of their teacher prepared their final woodwork, each participant made individual woodwork.
This unique training enabled young people to use this newly adopted knowledge and skills and start working as junior apprentices and trainees in carpentry companies, and further progress through practical work in their quest to gain a new occupation.
Given the great demand for carpenters and locksmiths, this training will open many doors for these young people and create new opportunities for learning and progress.
