Counseling as a core activity of YourJob

YourJob Youth Employment Guidance Counseling is one of the four important parts of the activity. More than 2,000 young people went through the counseling process during the program from 2019 to 2022.

The counseling process is the first and fundamental activity that provides support to young people and empowers them to look for work. At the counseling center, young people receive information about the YourJob program, opportunities and procedures for training, internships or self-employment.

During the interview, the focus is on the young person and their wishes, needs, educational path and vision. Based on all the data, the guidance counselor and the young person together create an individual career plan. It requires a lot of knowledge, skills and patience. Moreover, this is just the beginning of the process of working with young people. Depending on the plan and activities, the young client and guidance counselor are looking for appropriate training or employers who are willing to give the opportunity for employment and internship to a young person without work experience. The monitoring of the young person continues, the counselors monitor how much the young people have progressed, how their career plan is being implemented, and whether anything needs to be changed, supplemented, or upgraded. For young people who are self-employed, and future young entrepreneurs, guidance counselors are support and link with various institutions, mentors and administrative offices.

In addition to working with young people, counselors work closely with employers, institutions, institutions, and ministries, plan and organize various events, round tables, conferences, and meetings, prepare contracts and perform administrative tasks. All these activities are done in counseling, online and also in the field.

Youth guidance counselors are also young people themselves, who have completed various additional trainings after their basic education. They have acquired skills through this or other Caritas projects and programs. They are trusted people and people everyone can rely on.

We are extremely proud of the team of guidance counselors working in the YourJob program in Bosnia and Herzegovina, who are a central part of the program activities in the field. Seven guidance counselors in five job positions in three youth employment counseling centers went through the YourJob program in BiH. Anita, Zeljka and Andjela worked in the counseling center in Mostar, Zrinka worked in the counseling center in Capljina, and Dajana, Slavica and Tanja worked in the counseling center in Banja Luka. Each brought with them their skills and knowledge and was available to all young people looking for work. They spoke about activities, successes and challenges at two final conferences organized in Mostar and Capljina. We want to thank them on behalf of the project team but also on behalf of all the young people to whom they have left their mark in their careers. (caritas.ba)
